As a Constitutional Conservative, the positions that I take at the state legislature are based on the Constitution of the United States and the Colorado State Constitution. Those foundational documents can be amended only by the People and secondary statute crafted by the legislature must comply therein.
The state Constitution allows the whole Senate, meaning all 35 members, to vote on nominations made by the Governor. A committee cannot vote down such a nomination, only the whole Senate has that authority. I have voted against certain nominees and would do so in the future.
Most such funding comes from the federal government directly to municipalities, not through the state budget.
