Running a business, started from scratch, has given me the tools and drive to hit issues head on. I don’t accept “I don’t know” for an answer from myself. If I don’t have the answer, I’ll find it. When you’re the boss, there is no deferring to somebody above you in charge. It makes you accept responsibility.
I am a husband, father of 3, and a businessman. I have a passion for communicating the issues in a logical, straightforward way. I also feel that I typically have a different “angle” on most issues, which helps people confront their beliefs and values in a new and exciting way. I am skeptically optimistic.
I see the entire lottery as a tax on those whom are bad at math… but it is a completely voluntary “tax”.
This issue is more about defining what a “business of public accommodation” is. I’m shocked most fail to understand this.
The Feds should pay for the services rendered, for doing the Feds jobs… but the localities should help the feds.
Through my experience I have learned how to get people of strong differing opinions to come together in agreement. Working together will get great things accomplished for the people of Colorado and more importantly save this state for our children, grandchildren and for the generations yet to come.
Have you ever heard people say someone should do something about where this state is heading? I have decided I was going to be that someone. We have a Tax Payer Bill Of Rights (TABOR) yet our current legislatures feel that the WE THE PEOPLE shouldn’t be making the decisions and find “work arounds” to our state constitution.
A person’s religious beliefs is part of who they are.
I feel the government and our taxes should not fund abortions but funding other health care services is ok.
I have had numerous diccusions throughout my life on both sides of this.
I was a Westminster City Council Member from 2103 to 2017, where I was frequently in the minority, and nearly always on the right side. I have numerous published articles, papers and letters to the editor. US Army veteran and willing to attempt to persuade my colleagues at the State House to do what is right.
I want to live my live my life in the protection and safety of consistently enforced laws. Just as I expect a place to live in peace and pursuing happiness, I require every other American to have the same respect for their pursing happiness. Government must NEVER threaten it’s citizens. Government is our responsibility
most people do this
the voters have set rules for funding
no one should receive special exemptions
During his two terms in the Colorado General Assembly, Representative Wist has established himself as an effective, bipartisan lawmaker who is not afraid to take on tough issues. During the 2018 legislative session, Representative Wist introduced 28 bills, each with bipartisan sponsorship, and had 22 bills signed into law.
Rep. Cole Wist is the Assistant Minority Leader of the Colorado House of Representatives and serves as Representative for District 37. Cole is a long time resident of the district, living in the Homestead neighborhood of Centennial since 1997. He and his wife, Susan, have three daughters: Connor, 26, Abby, 20 and Halle, 16.
As an attorney I have extensive experience with many different aspects of the law and with helping and representing people. As a member of the Colorado General Assembly your first job to represent the people of your district and Colorado as a whole.
I am a democratic candidate running to represent the 57th District of the Colorado State House of Representatives. I have always believed in serving and giving back to my community. I believe it is time to bring new voices to the Colorado State House, and to make a difference in lives of Coloradans.
Danielle Kombo has over a decade of experience in the healthcare field which gives her a unique perspective and insight into an important issue that impacts all Coloradans.
Continuing her family’s distinguished legacy of serving the community, Danielle brings her “Spirit of the West”, can-do attitude in service to Colorado’s House District 45. In addition, she is a mother of four sons, small business owner, and a healthcare administrative professional.
My experience as a school principal, Mayor, RTD Director, United Power Director, Colorado Air and Space Port Advisory Board Member, Almost Home Director and registered psychotherapist working with truant children prepares me to work on diverse areas to help give families and others a voice at the State House.
My name is Dave Rose and I have lived in Brighton, Co for 41 years with my wife Wilma. Wilma and I raised 4 wonderful children and also have a daughter-in-law and son-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren. We both worked in the Brighton Public Schools for many years and served on City Council and several boards.
Depens on the issue and how it affects others.
Planned Parenthood provides valuable services to women.
I need more information on the specifics.
Depends on the situation.
Sanctuary Cities have really never been defined.
As a current legislator running for re-election, I will continue to fight to protect Christians from the radical homosexual lobby’s agenda to silence people of faith, defend the right to life, advance our 2nd Amendment, and stop sanctuary cities.
Unlike other politicians, I’m not running for re-election because I like government. Far from it.
Like you, I’ve grown frustrated with big-government liberals (in both parties) that say one thing to get elected, and then do the opposite when they get into power. You are the boss, and I serve your interests, no one else’s.
As long as those beliefs align with the Judeo-Christian worldview of our nation’s founding and constitution.
“A person’s a person no matter how small.”
I support Jack Phillips and will fight to protect his 1st Amendment rights. Christians shouldn’t be bullied by government.
I studied mathematics and ancient history, so I know how a broken budget and broken families can destroy a nation – even an empire, like Rome’s.
I want to secure a future for Coloradan children. To that end I support a balanced budget and a pro-family agenda.
That would depend on the religion. Some religions provide healthy philosophies in governance. Others are simple poison.
A lottery is a regressive tax on the poor and innumerate. The state should not be involved.
If a city secedes from Federal law it casts our whole State’s agreement with the nation into question. This is civil war.
Have a Masters degree in Leadership, former Army officer, Vietnam US Army Special Forces combat veteran, small business owner for decades, with some very good success in several different fields. However, some failures too, both of which produce wisdom and knowledge.
I am dedicated and passionate about getting government out of people’s business. I am a Ronald Reagan conservative and believe we should cut taxes and red tape to make it easier for businesses to create jobs by competing fairly in the marketplace. Strong believer in the 2nd Amendment, small business, education, & people.
You should not let your religion dictate how you vote, but need a strong moral code.
My experience with working well with others and building partnership and collaboration with others helps me build relationships and voicing for Southern Colorado.
Voters in my district know who I am and know that I have the experience to continue serve at the state house and continue to work for them.
Also, the voters know that I listen and communicate well with them and know the district.
I grew up in a politically active home and have served as a volunteer citizen activist at the state legislature for more than 25 years. I have participated in researching, reviewing, and contributing to the writing of legislation. Although I’m not an attorney, I have studied the Constitution and am ready to get to work.
As a small business owner and a single mother I will represent all Coloradans in my district, including those most financially vulnerable. I will be a true citizen legislator who is not beholden to special interests and will avoid partisan bickering while addressing the needs of our state as a whole.
Since law often involves ethics and justice, it’s unrealistic to expect legislators to never be influenced by their beliefs.
I have no objections to Medicaid covering services provided by any agency as long as Colorado law is respected.
I support tax exempt status for all nonprofits because of the valuable services they provide to our communities.
Seems to me that state money could be better spent elsewhere given how accessible the Colorado lottery already is.
I believe the Supreme Court still needs to rule on this issue from the perspective of freedom of speech.
Rule of law requires compliance with laws from all levels of government. Sanctuary cities violate current federal law.
I have experience in the military/Law enforcement as well as the business world. I am very active in the community through both local and federal boards. I enjoy very much being a Rotarian and the last board I served on was a board that worked with the homeless population.
I graduated from the Navel Academy. Captain of my college football team. Served as a Marine Corps office. Was a Federal Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration. I received my MBA from the University of Colorado. I have my own business. My wife is from Mexico.
Medicaid yes Planned parent hood no. That should come from the private sector.
i do not want religious organizations to have a say in government and they will if they pay taxes.
If the lottery can support it self that is can advertise itself.
Let the business owner decide. this does not include race/sex.
Sanctuary cities are an excuse not to reform immigration. Reform immigration and there will be no need for sanctuary cities.
I am an immigrant with three college degrees in Engineering. Father of 3 kids, with diverse Academic and Industrial experience. As a result of my journey, I am prepared to face immigration debate, healthcare, education – Student loans, oil and gas issues in weld county. I understand the values that can make a happy family.
I will listen to everyone’s issues, problems and story, reach across the party lines and have an honest dialogue with the people who disagree with me on issues. Thinking and working together, we can overcome partisan bickering and divisive language. By talking to each other and not at each other, we can have a better State
As a young conservative who work in a very socially liberal environment (concert industry) I know what it takes to work with the other side to provide services for our clients. I see issues from the perspective of a small business owner, a parent of two young children, and from a fresh millennial POV who wants results.
Hi everybody my name is Grady Nouis. I am your Republican candidate in Arvada and Westminster. My wife Kelly and I are the proud parents of Gareth (4) and Evelyn (2). I support the First Amendment as written.
I do not support Sanctuary Jurisdictions.
Having a business background has been essential in looking at the work of the State and making clear choices about how to serve the people of Colorado. In addition, having grown up farming, it is so important to understand the diverse communities and economies of the state.
Hugh McKean was elected to represent Colorado House District 51 on November 6, 2016. He has been active in securing funding for water projects and finding ways to fund I-25 expansion. During the 2018 session he worked on a host of bills especially fast-tracking the vital re-licensure of Colorado nurses.
It’s inevitable that the things that make up a person, including religion, be part of how they make decisions.
Having served 6 years in the Colorado House, I have established myself as a respected voice for rural Colorado and HD 60. I am one that both sides of the aisle look towards when rural issues are discussed. I have served on multiple committees including: Education, Health & Local Government. Proven leadership — priceless
I have a proven record of service to HD 60. I have sponsored/co-sponsored bills to secure more school funding, expanded broadband services, protected water rights, supported veterans, eased burdens on child care, addressed teacher shortages in rural areas & promoted economic growth while maintaining fiscal responsibility
Sixteen years as a local elected official-eight years as Mesa County Clerk, and currently as Mesa County Treasurer, and have served on legislative committees in both offices I have held. Private sector–I was as a Professional Legal Secretary working with attorneys, the Federal Court, and running my own small business.
I am ready to take on the important work that gets done in the Colorado House of Representatives. I will be a strong, common sense, consistent voice for Mesa County. This is the kind of responsibility you should expect from your Representative.
Rather than a hypothetical, I would want to know the issue.
I oppose public funding of Planned Parenthood.
I would want to see the actual budget, but I believe the advertising is adequately funded.
I believe this is best decided in a court of law.

I believe that a person beliefs are important to the character of their ability to serve
I do not believe that tax payers money should be used in this manner.
I was grateful for the ruling for Jack with Masterpiece Bakery from the Supreme Court. M
Sanctuary cities create two classes of citizens. And places illegal in a protected class with more rights and than Americans.
Almost a fourth of the State’s budget goes to education yet those monies don’t reach beneficial uses. I was an administrator at the time Teacher Effectiveness laws were enacted. I am acutely aware of how misguided legislation and policy decisions can harm rather than help. A teacher needs to be in the legislature.
I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I have worked in education for 17 years, mostly as a teacher but also as an administrator as well as in a university setting. I’m not perfect, I’ve made plenty of mistakes just like most people. I face the same challenges as most people. I guess I’m just an average man.
Every experience a person has influences decisions the same as the lack of belief influences the decisions of non-believers.
To do otherwise would violate the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.
The lottery is essentially a regressive tax.
To do otherwise would violate the 13th Amendment. A forced act contrary to conscience is slavery.
“Sanctuary” laws are acts against the sovereignty of our state and nation.

Support 1st amendment.
Government should always follow the law.
The Judeo-Christian worldview held by our nations founders is under fire in academia, the press, and where the policymaking rubber hits the road – in the Colorado State House. After serving for four years, I believe it’s vital (now more than ever) for church-goers to vote and elect those who share a biblical worldview.
Bible believing Christian, Conservative, Husband & Father
The Bible does not lose relevance when crossing the steps of the capitol.
Please check my voting record and the work I’ve done in my first 2 terms in the Colorado House. Awards to date include Principles of Liberty (A+ rating), American Conservative Union (100%), CUT (Colorado Union of Taxpayers) Champion, and Common Sense in the Courtroom award.

I believe in personal responsibility, property rights, traditional family values, educational choice, and limited government.

The taxpayers should NOT be funding abortions.
Churches are an integral part of our support system that helps deliver services to the needy in our society.
Business owners should be able to choose who they want to serve according to their religious beliefs
Sanctuary cities should follow State and Federal law, or face losing state and federal aid. They are breaking our laws.

I am looking forward to my last session in the house. I will continue my work on a variety of issues: Veterans, Human Trafficking, Health Care, law enforcement. I am a fiscal conservative who believes in doing with is right for my district and my constituents.
I don’t think someone can separate their personal beliefs from their voting. A public sector employee must follow the law.
Not a penny of my tax dollars should go to this organization
Only if they stay completely out of politics.
private business owners should do what they want.
I am running for my last term and have kept my promises to defend the Constitution and life.
I’m the only candidate for House District 63 that is 100 percent pro-life and pro-family.
Growing up internationally, married to my high school sweetheart for 40 years, raising four successful adult children, owning and operating a business in Colorado, serving my community and writing 200 articles in Townhall defending American founding principles – All that contributes to my preparation to serve conservatively
My mission as State Representative will be to elevate the aspirations of the citizens by limiting the aspirations of government.
Candidates should be transparent in this. My Lord is Jesus Christ of the Bible.
If churches pay taxes, their views should be represented. So, I support the 1st Amendment in this.
The state should not be in the business of gambling nor marketing.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Colorado. So, I am aware of what the government can do or not do to strengthen or weaken the economy. I also am a regular viewer of the Fox News Channel, so I am aware of the positive effects on the economy that deregulation and tax cuts have achieved.
I am a third generation Boulderite and am concerned about the direction that my city, county and state are headed. My primary concern is the preservation of the first two Amendments to Constitution. The far left wishes to wipe out freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the freedom to own a gun. I wish to stop this.
Public funding of abortions must stop.

The federal government should continue to pay Planned Parenthood for non-abortion services received by people on Medicaid.

Prior to holding elected office I served as a Captain in the US Army. In the Army I served in several leadership positions and earned the Bronze Star.

My lifetime working in agriculture and running my own business has prepared me to serve this district with common sense. Honesty and hard work are very important to me and something that I am prepared to bring to the office.
Scott is a lifetime Colorado resident that has been involved in agriculture all of his life. This has given him a solid background founded on the belief in God, family and country. It depends on the branch of government. Never in the Judiciary. Sometimes in the Executive. Legislators frequently run on it.
Any vendor that provides a covered service is entitled to the standard fee. Government does not get to pick your doctor.
Some people will leech off the system pretending to be churches – but we can’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.
We can’t balance our budget on regressive sin taxes.
