What would you like the voters to know about you?

I believe in this Country, I live in Fremont County and own a solar business. I’m hard working and live on a small ranch. I’ve fostered children, volunteer at the Senior Center, shop at farmers markets, protect animals against abuse, involved in environmental groups and support small business. I believe in fairness for all.

How would you assure qualified persons are appointed to regulatory positions and commissions?

Senate confirms appointments and I’d want to meet with appointees and assess their character. In working across the aisle I won’t dismiss a nominee because of party. My bias is to protect Coloradans, our animals and land. I support knowledgeable, experienced candidates with a great temperament for these positions.

We do public committee public hearings and interview all applicants. Do they align with the requirements for the positions or commissions, etc.

What would you like the voters to know about you?

As a Constitutional Conservative, the positions that I take at the state legislature are based on the Constitution of the United States and the Colorado State Constitution. Those foundational documents can be amended only by the People and secondary statute crafted by the legislature must comply therein.

How would you assure qualified persons are appointed to regulatory positions and commissions?

The state Constitution allows the whole Senate, meaning all 35 members, to vote on nominations made by the Governor. A committee cannot vote down such a nomination, only the whole Senate has that authority. I have voted against certain nominees and would do so in the future.

What would you like the voters to know about you?

After 26 years of pastoral ministry, helping individuals, couples, families, the homeless and troubled youth, the people of Colorado have asked me to run for office and represent them. I am not a career politician but simply a public servant willing to serve. I am a strong defender of Faith, Family, & Freedom.

How would you assure qualified persons are appointed to regulatory positions and commissions?

I believe that people who are appointed to serve should be examined and vetted by not what they say they will do but what they have done in the past. A person’s walk talks louder than their talk talks. History reveals so much of a person to see if they are qualified to serve.

The legislature does not appoint people to these positions, the Governor. We in the Senate confirm them. There have been times when we (the republican senate) have not confirmed nominations made by the Governor because we did not feel they were qualified or right for the position.
